  8. write filtering programs for USENET format electronic news, including ClariNet

  11. Filter programs so created can be as simple or complex as desired, filtering
  12. articles as finely as can be specified to a machine

  14. The filter programs can work independently on a .newsrc file, or in parallel
  15. with a USENET newsreader like the RN reader available from SCO

  17. The filtering language allows reference to all header items of articles,
  18. pattern matching on all regions of the headers and text, and reference to
  19. stored databases.
